Volunteer Opportunities

Increase your faith and experience the joy and fulfilment of using your gifts and talents to make a difference in the world.

Serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received.
--I Peter 4:10

The team going to South Africa collected hundreds of items to aid the people. Some of these things were lovingly hand-made by the sewing and knitting groups here at church. The knitters and sewers made 38 dresses, 23 pairs of shorts, 56 knitted caps, 15 knitted blankets and 30 cotton blankets.

Argentine Food Kitchen

On the first Tuesday of each month a core group of six to eight dedicated volunteers spend their time preparing a hot, home-cooked meal, serving to the ever increasing numbers of guests and washing up the dishes, pots and pans. In addition to the regulars, various Sunday School classes take on the responsibility of helping to prepare parts of the meal ahead of time in our church kitchen. Country Club Christian has become known as making the best Taco Salad around! Last year the average number of people served was 150. This year that average has grown to 250. If you would like to join this group, either as a regular or periodically, call Jane Fletcher for more information.

Micah Ministry Volunteers Always Needed

On the second Monday of each month a group of people from Country Club Christian join hands with others at Independence Boulevard Christian Church in prayer before they move on to their various tasks for the evening in serving between 400-450 people. This is a great service time for individuals, groups of friends, classes, or families.Bake homemade desserts at home and deliver to Country Club Christian Church

  • Preparing the meals
  • Serving the meals, getting to know the guests
  • Helping with clean up
  • Playing basketball with the children
  • Becoming a personal shopper at the clothing closet

We use the church van or carpool every month. Meet at 4:30 p.m. in the chapel parking lot. John, the security guard at IBCC will greet us with a smile and personally escort everyone to and from their vehicle. We promise that you’ll leave feeling tired but in high spirits.

If you are interested in providing a homemade dessert every month, contact Joanne Montgomery at 913-384-2539.

If you, your family or your group would like to volunteer on a Monday night, contact Joyce Minor at 816-942-0460.

Sticker Club

Did you ever wonder how the Christian newsletter goes from the press to the post office? One of the most labor intensive tasks is to affix the white stickers onto the newsletter to keep it closed during the trip through the post office. Our biweekly volunteers respond to the call from Joyce Harwood and spend a couple of hours at the church. They not only “sticker”, but laugh, chat and generally have a great time. Contact Joyce Harwood if you would like to help, 816-333-4917 or joyceh@cccckc.org.

Sewing Ministry

Share your love of sewing with a group using their skills to craft school uniforms for Heart of America Family Services, bed linens for Cancer Action and other worthwhile projects. Thursdays 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the church, and don’t forget to bring your lunch.

Knitting Ministry

Join this spirited group as they knit blankets for women and children in Haiti and for local groups. The needles click away at 9:30 a.m. on Monday mornings at the church.

Prayer Ministry

Every Friday morning volunteers meet at 10:30 a.m. in Room 208 to lift up prayer requests submitted by pew prayer cards, telephone, mail, email and our website. Anyone may join us. All information is confidential. Please contact Dr. George Gordon or Rev. Cynthia Heller.

Seasonal Gifts

Each year at Christmas our congregation remembers our shut-ins with a small gift. Volunteers deliver the gift with a friendly visit. Contact Rev. Cynthia Heller if you would like to join in the fun.
