WORSHIP AND WONDER
9:45 - 10:40 a.m.
3 1/2 - 4 1/2 - Room 223
4 1/2 - Kindergarten - Room 224
Worship and Wonder seeks to share faith through simply told Bible stories using manipulatives to demonstrate the story. The stories have room for wondering and allow for imaginations of children to connect the stories with their own life experiences. In Worship and Wonder, children are given opportunities to worship God in a uniquely meaningful and developmentally appropriate way. They are learning about God while experiencing God. We have Worship and Wonder classes which meet on Sunday mornings on the second floor of the children's wing. If you have a young child, consider exploring this opportunity.

SUNDAY SCHOOL FOR 1ST - 5TH GRADERS
Fountains of Faith Rotation
October Sunday School
Test of Faith:
Jonah
Children in 1st – 5th grade Sunday School classes have begun a five-week rotation on Jonah which continues through Oct. 21. God wants us to love all people and to act in ways that will show others that we are all loved by God. The story of Jonah directs us outward. Jonah’s job from God was to go to another “people” and share God’s love with them in such a way that they would take action. We can live in such a way so that others might see God’s love and grace reflected in our thoughts and deeds. Through shadow plays, origami, cooking and storytelling the children will explore the story of Jonah and how it speaks to us today.
Workshop Rotation Model (August - May)
Our Sunday
School model celebrates children's different learning styles through a number
of lab-style workshops such as storytelling, games, drama, cooking, puppets and
visual stimulation. Students rotate each week from workshop to workshop centered
on a biblical theme taught for a four or five week rotation.
Shepherds
provide continuity and nurture the children, traveling with their flock to each
rotation. A two-shepherd team works with the same age group for the rotation year,
August - May.
Teachers have a wonderful opportunity to offer their energy,
abilities, and gifts in the ministry to children. Instead of teaching a new lesson
each week, to the same class for all or part of the year, teachers are assigned
to one workshop for a rotation, teaching the same lesson for four to five weeks. Seasons
of the Spirit is used intermittently throughout the year to bring insight
into the liturgical seasons of the church calendar.
Consistent teams of teachers
work together using this curriculum which compliments the rotation model.
The
classrooms, located on the second floor of the children's wing, are 212, 213,
214, 220, and 224. See the bulletin board in the hallway for the rooms for each
grade for any given week.
