GRACE AT WORK – Saturday, April 19th, 2008

Grace at Work is your opportunity to reach out and help organizations in our local community – including Country Club Christian Church.

This fun filled one-day event will support our target organizations by our participation in various hands on projects. During this community event you will be demonstrating Grace at Work while you enjoy fellowship and create visible change in our community!

Participation is EASY. Just review the agencies below and indicate your interest by completing the online application below. You will then be contacted by a Team Leader.

Opportunities have been categorized into Family/Child Friendly (6+), Youth Friendly (13+) Adult Only (18+).  No matter your age or skill level – you can help!

Have children younger than six? NO Problem! Childcare is provided at CCCC – just indicate your interest in the application below.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The following volunteer opportunities are available:

• Argentine Food Kitchens/Crosslines (Youth Friendly 13+)- Serves individuals, families and children in the neighborhood around Argentine/Crosslines.   At Argentine Food Kitchens/Crosslines you will be Working in thrift store sorting donations, stocking, pricing & cleaning as needed.    OPPORTUNITY FULL
• Argentine School Tutoring (Youth Friendly 13+)- At Argentine School you will be working with students who need a little extra help and mentoring from a caring youth or adult.    Register
• CCCC – Childcare (Youth Friendly 13+) – Onsite at CCCC you will be working with church staff to provide childcare services for volunteer families in need of childcare.  Register
• CCCC – Food Preparation  (Youth Friendly 13+) – Onsite at CCCC you will be serving the needs of volunteering individuals & families by preparing food & supplies as they serve their respective recipient organization. Register
• CCCC – Facilities Maintenance  (Youth Friendly 13+) – Onsite at CCCC you will be serve the community of CCCC by cleaning out large scale items from the stage and storage areas.  OPPORTUNITY FULL
• Fire Department Party (Family/Child Friendly 6+) – Have fun preparing a party for Consolidated Fire Department #2 at 3921 W. 63rd St. You will be serving by baking/icing cookies, creating thank you cards and then delivering the cards and goodies to the Fire Station – you will even get to wash a fire truck! Register
• Grace United Community Ministries  (Youth Friendly 13+) – serves individuals, families and children in the neighborhood surrounding Grace United Ministries.   At Grace United you will be helping to provide much needed facility maintenance and Repairs.   Register
• KC Free Health Clinic - Medical  (Adult Only 18+) – provides basic health care services at no charge to people who cannot pay for care and to those who do not have insurance available to them.  At the KC Free Health Clinic we need Doctors, Nurses and Pharmacists willing to serve this community.   Please note:  This wonderful opportunity could turn into a once a month project.  We are looking for individuals who are open to continuing their service beyond “Grace at Work”.   Register
• KC Free Health Clinic - Clerical  (Adult Only 18+) – provides basic health care services at no charge to people who cannot pay for care and to those who do not have insurance available to them.  At the KC Free Health Clinic you will work with front desk staff checking in patients and performing some clerical duties.   Please note:  This wonderful opportunity could turn into a once a month project.  We are looking for individuals who are open to continuing their service beyond “Grace at Work”.      Register
• Micah Ministries (Youth Friendly 13+) – serves individuals, children and families in the neighborhood around the Independence Blvd. Christian Church.  At Micah Ministries you will be sorting clothes or working in the kitchen to prepare for Monday’s meal.        Register
• Prison Ministry at CCCC  (Adult Only 18+) – serves inmates at the Lansing Correctional Facility by sorting and categorizing books in the prison library.  This ministry has made a positive difference in the lives of many inmates.  Although the April 19th trip is full, please call Shirley Hansell if you would be interested in going on a future trip in the fall.   OPPORTUNITY FULL
• Rose Brooks Center  (Adult Only 18+) – is a comprehensive domestic violence agency that provides a full continuum of care including prevention programming, crisis intervention and other supportive services to thousands of women and children each year.   At Rose Brooks Center you will be serving by doing Yard work, sorting of donations and/or cleaning services.  Register
• Salvation Army – Adult Rehabilitation Center (Adult Only 18+) – provides housing, clothing, medical attention and educational aid to men who are seeking help for a drug or alcohol addiction.  At the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center you will be working on Program Journaling Orientation – one-on-one assistance with journaling workbooks with new residences.  Register
• Shepherds Center (Family/Child Friendly 6+) - Serves elderly individuals in the neighborhood between 46th & 85th, between State Line & Troost.    You will be doing yard work at the homes of Shepard Center clients.  OPPORTUNITY FULL
• Whole Person (Youth Friendly 13+) – serves disabled individuals in the neighborhood surrounding Whole Person (3240 Broadway).  You will be working to assist Whole Person clients with simple home repairs and projects they are unable to complete on their own.  Register
