Our wedding ministry includes several parts, beginning long before the day of the ceremony. We want to help you have a beautiful and meaningful wedding, but we are even more vitally interested in launching a loving, lasting marriage. The most secure marriages result for couples who have strong relationship building skills. To help you begin your life together, we provide "GREAT START," a three-part program designed to prepare a man and a woman to build a happy, growing relationship. "GREAT START" includes:
Wedding Workshop
Couples attend one of our Wedding Workshops held Saturday mornings three times a year. You should try to come to a Workshop six months or more before your wedding date. This is a chance to answer questions about the wedding service, music and building use. We also discuss the importance of a spiritual basis for a strong marital relationship. Most of the morning, however, is spent reviewing the results of the PREPARE Inventory which you will take a few weeks prior to the Workshop. PREPARE is designed to help you better understand yourself, your partner and your relationship.
Couple Communication I
This class meets one evening a week for four weeks and may be taken during your engagement or during the first year of marriage. Offered several times a year, the course teaches the use of such practical skills as talking, listening and conflict resolution. Couple Communication I is an easy-to-learn, positive, award-winning educational program that teaches you and your partner practical communication skills to produce, protect, and sustain a vital partnership. A course brochure is available for those seeking more information or inquiries can be made to Jane Fletcher or Rev. Carla Aday. Registration Form.
Couple Communication II
After completing Couple Communication I and celebrating your first anniversary, you are invited to this third component of "GREAT START." More advanced communication skills are taught, building on the information learned in the first course. This seminar is offered over a weekend or one evening a week for four weeks.
