Justin Zeigler, Director of Middle School Ministries, is leading a team of ten 6th/7th graders and adult sponsors on a mission trip to St. Louis this week.

We started our journey leaving the church pretty close to our time. As we drove (and listened to 3 1/3 hours of music compiled by Connor) we sang along to John Mayer (and I forced the youth to listen to some classic “Journey” music), had a McDonalds stop, and of course stopped by the bathroom a number of times. Getting to the church as a team the youth quickly unpacked the van and we headed off to our first adventure in St. Louis. We went to the City Museum to run, climb, swing. I gave a quick lesson on how to find the best vintage clothes, and then we headed back to the church. When we got back we were invited to take part in a poverty banquet. We were split into different economic earning classes and were fed accordingly. A majority of us received rice, while some got rice and beans, while others received a full meal. When that event was over we made our own meal of Spaghetti…the youth did all the cleaning and of course the cooking. After that we met in our small groups and then had worship and talked about how God calls us beautiful, and at the same time invites us into transformation.  We went to bed….and thank goodness for that!

Peace,
