One hundred years ago a visionary group of Christians responded to God’s call to love and serve by founding a church at 61st Street and Ward Parkway. Over the first 100 years, thousands of children, youth and adults have been embraced by the life-changing love of God through this congregation. Dynamic preaching, stellar music, and the gorgeous sanctuary have spiritually empowered the congregation to reach out to the world through mission and service.
This year, we will celebrate our first 100 years and look forward to the next 100, with the goals of welcoming the next generation into the life changing love of God; providing a spiritual home for all people, where lives intersect and grace is present; and empowering all to become God’s good news.

Centennial Classes

March 29 – “The Disciples of Christ in One Sentence” Dr. Newell Williams, Professor of Church History and President of Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University, will present an overview of the historic beginnings and current status of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
April 5 – “Country Club Christian Church in One Century” Dr. Linna Place, a member of Country Club Christian Church and retired Professor of American Social and Cultural History at UMKC, will highlight the first 100 years of our church’s story.
