Oct. 23 – 26, 2023

An educational and relational journey for better understanding racism in our country and to consider ways to work toward dismantling it. 

This pilgrimage to Birmingham and Montgomery, Alabama will include visits to the Southern Poverty Law Center, Freedom Rider’s Museum, Bryan Stevenson’s Legacy Museum, Peace and Justice Memorial, Equal Justice Initiative, 16th Street Baptist Church, Civil Rights Institute, and Kelly Ingram Park. The trip is led by Rev Carla Aday and Dr. Claudia Highbaugh, Retired Chaplain and Disciples of Christ pastor, Connecticut.

The trip is designed as a partnership between members of Swope Parkway United Christian Church and Country Club Christian Church. All participants will be strongly encouraged to build relationships with members of the partner church by participating in a small group prior to the trip. View the full brochure HERE.

 

Total cost per person is $1,439 for double occupancy and $1,789 for single occupancy. This includes hotel, airfare, transportation from Atlanta to Alabama and all sights by Motor Coach; museum fees, three breakfasts, one lunch and one dinner, + tips. Does NOT include: two dinners, three lunches, travel insurance, transport to the Kansas City airport. 

For those who choose to fly separately, the cost without airfare is $1,063/person for double occupancy and $1,413/person for single occupancy.
