Scott Glasrud to lead Congregational Board

Scott Glasrud will be the chair of the Congregational Board for the 2017-2018 year. He and his wife Sarah have been members of the church for 13 years. They first started visiting Country Club Christian Church after attending a wedding here, and then were drawn in by the quality preaching and connections they made through the clergy at the time.

Scott has held many leadership roles at the church, serving as a deacon for six years, and on the Congregational Board for a three-year term. During part of his board tenure, Scott also served as Treasurer. After his board tenure he remained on the Finance Committee for two years.

Scott and Sarah have two adult children, Jason and Amy, who both were married at Country Club Christian Church, and both live and work in the Kansas City area. The Glasruds also have six grandchildren. They are originally from Madison, WI. Scott’s career has been in healthcare as both a financial consultant and executive with organizations including Ernst & Young, The University of Kansas Hospital, and University Healthsystem Consortium in Chicago. Scott is now what he calls “semi-retired and doing some independent consulting, while still being available for grandkid duty!”

“Any successes of my professional career were primarily based on my ability as a facilitator and in providing the necessary resources for other key players to succeed,” Scott said. “I hope to play the same role as Board Chair, with my main goal for this coming year being to continue the Board’s support of the early stages of Carla Aday’s exciting vision for the future of the church. I have been inspired by her focus on building ‘community’ and helping us to truly become the ‘body of Christ’ through our collective efforts to support each other and our neighbors, both locally and across the world.”

Deb Plucknett to lead Elders

Deb Plucknett will serve as the Chair of the Elders for the 2018-2018 year.

Deb has been a member of the church for about 20 years and was married to her husband, Dave, here in 1999.  She has served on various councils and ministry teams, starting with the Congregational Care Committee in 2000 and including the Prison Ministry Team, as Worship Chair, on the Worship Council, on the Congregational Board, and as an Elder. She is a member of the Outlook Sunday School class.

Deb and Dave and their son, Ben Giguere, moved to Kansas City from Lincoln, NE, in 1997. Ben attended Pastor’s Class and was baptized in 2003. He graduated from K-State and is an engineer at JEI Structural. Deb is a Project Manager at TIAA Retirement Services and Dave is Administrative Director at KU Med.

During her term as Elder chair, Deb’s goals include implementing a better system of scheduling communion, collection, greeters and praying elders.

“I am honored to serve in this role at Country Club, and hope to provide leadership that will best serve God and bring us closer to the spirit,” Deb said. “I’m excited to serve as Elder Chair  and am looking forward to all the exciting things taking place.”
