Acts and Action
Led by Mike Graves • Feb. 12, 19, 26, 7:00 p.m.
If you’re the kind of person who makes New Year’s resolutions about growing closer to God in Bible study or volunteering to make a difference in the world, this course is for you. We will study key passages from the book of Acts, focusing on three themes: wealth and poverty, food justice, and fear of the other. As a follow-up, we will engage in ministries around the KC area that are seeking to address these needs. This is a great opportunity to put your faith into action.

Where Is God in a Time Like This?
Led by Mike Graves • March 12, 19, 26, 7:00 p.m.
As long as people have followed God and thought about what it means to follow God, there is one question above all others they have asked: Where is God in a time like this? Theologians call it theodicy, the problem of evil and suffering. This is not the kind of question one “solves,” so much as it is the kind of question one wrestles with. During the season of Lent when we recall the suffering of Jesus, we will think about the suffering of all humanity, even as we embrace the virtue of hope.

The Greatest Prayer
Led by Mike Graves • Mondays, Apr. 16, 23, 30, May 7, 7:00 p.m.
John Dominic Crossan is one of the preeminent New Testament scholars in the world, author of many fine volumes. His little book The Greatest Prayer is no exception. He focuses on the Lord’s Prayer that Christians all over the world offer to God every week, including here at Country Club Christian Church. Although the prayer is most familiar, participants might be surprised to learn the meaning behind it. Each week we will look at various petitions in the prayer and come together to talk about it.
