Cedar Rapids Mission Trip Report

June 11-13, 2009

Eleven volunteers went to Cedar Rapids, IA, from June 11-13 to help with rebuilding after last year’s massive flooding.  The group worked on Cedar Christian Church that sat in eight feet of water after the Cedar River crested at 35 feet on June 12, 2008.  There were four first-time mission trip volunteers, all of whom provided an enormous amount of talent.  Each agreed that this was a good experience that they would not only go again, but would recommend it to others.  The mission station managers in Cedar Rapids were grateful for the team of talented and eager volunteers and for the amount of work accomplished.  Church members in Iowa furnished lunch for the team on both work days and expressed how blessed they were that we were there to help, some with tears in their eyes.  Work completed included installing a double door and door casing in the fellowship hall; installing windows, shelves, stair rails and skirting; painting; power washing the church driveway and brick walls; and some yard work.
