Participation of all ages and groups in the nominating process ensures that we get a diverse representation of leaders. The Nominating Committee would like to ask you to take a second to think about the people in your church community that you would like working for you. The work of the church is more important than ever in these unusual times, here’s a simple way to be a part of it!
The nominating committee has identified the following open positions in particular, but please lift up gifted leaders even if you don’t have a specific position in mind.

  • 27 Deacons (3 year term) and Service Partners (1 year at a time)
  • 5 At-large Board members (3 year term, 1 year terms would be considered this year only to balance out board rotation)
  • 3 Endowment trustees (3 year term)
  • 6 2021-2022 Nominating committee members (3 Deacons, 3 Elders, 1 year at a time)
  • No specific goal: Elder (lifetime appointment)
You can nominate yourself if you are interested in a specific role! Deadline is March 31, 5:00 p.m.

    Please review the following leadership position descriptions and fill out the form below to submit your nomination.
  • Elders

    Elders serve as role models to the Congregation through their conversation, attitude and action in everyday life and through responsible financial support of the Church. They are called to be teachers and learners who are committed to spiritual growth through a life-long learning process. As a visionary, an Elder's role is one of guidance of the Congregation and support of the Church leadership. Elders are expected to participate in quarterly Elder/Deacon meetings, attend a yearly retreat as well as Congregational meetings, praying in worship, participating in Circles of Care and other responsibilities including serving communion. Elders are not an administrative or policy-making body. You may nominate an adult (lifetime term) or a student (grades 6-12, 1 year term).
  • Deacons

    Deacons participate in leadership training and spiritual growth programs, serve communion in worship, participate in Circles of Care, participate actively in one or more ministries, and share generously of their gifts of time, talent and money. They work with the Elders in promoting the growth and welfare of the Church, are expected to participate in quarterly Elder/Deacon meetings, attend a yearly retreat as well as Congregational meetings. Deacons are not an administrative or policy-making body. You may nominate an adult (3 year term) or a student (grades 6-12, 1 year term).
  • Endowment Fund Trustee

    The Endowment Fund Board of Trustees invests and administers capital gifts and bequests to the Church under the terms of a Declaration of Trust. Endowment Fund Trustees meet on a quarterly basis and may also be called upon to serve on other committees, including the Finance Committee. Endowment Fund Trustees serve 3 year terms.
  • Personnel Committee Member

    The Personnel Committee establishes policies on personnel issues, provides for evaluations of and open communications with the Church staff, recommends salaries and benefits for all Church staff, and considers other matters as it deems appropriate in the context of maintaining positive relationships between the Congregation and its staff. The Personnel Committee meets on a monthly basis. Personnel committee members serve 3 year terms.
  • Congregational Board Member

    The Congregational Board is made up of at least one third Elders with the remaining members Deacons. All board members serve as active leaders in the church. Members of the Board are asked to attend monthly meetings and special meetings as may be called. The Congregational Board focuses on church governance, providing oversight and long-term direction. Congregational Board members serve 3 year terms.

    Please submit your nomination by March 31, 2020. In accordance with our bylaws, the Nominating Committee will review all submissions to prepare a slate for the Congregational meeting on May 31. 2020.
