Updated from March 20

Weeping may linger in the night but joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5)

I have experienced both the weeping and the joy in recent days and suspect that is true for most of us. Last Sunday began with pure joy as we gathered from our homes to worship via live stream, and I began receiving online texts, emails and photos of many of you worshipping and sharing communion. The Spirit still knit us together as a community of faith and I am deeply grateful to our talented and dedicated staff (shout out to Matt Thompson and Paul Cutelli) who pulled this off in 48 hours so that we could receive the hope of the gospel and experience connectedness in the body of Christ.

Here are some updates about how Country Club Christian Church’s clergy and staff will continue to share in Christ’s ministry among us during this time. More ideas and strategies will emerge in the coming weeks as we dialogue with you and other church leaders about the hopes and needs of the wider community.

We are thankful for your support and encouragement during this difficult time, and we are especially grateful for your continued financial support, which will allow the church to serve in ministry with you through creativity and innovation. If you would like to share your weekly offering electronically, please do so at this link. And email us photos of you and your family worshipping from home this week.

Until further notice, worship will be offered via live stream only, and we invite you to tune in at your regular worship time, or to watch the archived service at your convenience at this link.
The church building will remain closed with the exception of our AA and Al-Anon groups who will continue to meet but limit their movement in the building. The clergy and staff are working from home and will be available to you via email or phone. The main church phone number will be answered remotely. We are in the process of enhancing our ability to conduct video and audio conferences so that some meetings, classes, groups may continue meeting.
Starting this week, a daily prayer will be available. We will share details on that call-in number as soon as we have them. You may also leave prayer concerns when you call, or you may email prayer concerns to [email protected] at any time.
The Congregational Care and Children’s and Youth Ministry teams will be setting up a pen pal program between our senior adults and children and youth in our congregation. Please email Joe Walker if you wish to participate. We will also provide resources such as food delivery or errands for our senior adult members. Email Joe if you wish to participate. Circles of Care will make weekly visits via telephone.
Our Children and Families Ministry and Youth Ministry will continue to send their regular Thursday news emails, including resources you might find helpful during this time. If you do not receive these emails but would like to, email April Booth. Click here to read the most recent update from Tyler. Click here to read the most recent update from Catherine.

The clergy and staff are working on ways that we can provide access to spiritual formation opportunities and small group social gatherings remotely. Stay tuned for more details. In the meantime you can catch up on any sermons you may have missed or rewatch your favorites at this link, or you can listen to sermons or the Heart and Mind podcast on Apple Podcasts.

I will be in touch via the Friday “Carla’s Candids” with additional news. Please feel free to contact me or any member of our clergy staff directly. Our direct dial numbers are on the website here.

Grace and Peace,
Carla Aday
