We started off the day singing happy birthday to Zoë…the big 1-3!  We headed out to start our second day of work. We split up into two groups, one working in a park cleaning up the area and the other sorting food at a food pantry that served the community that we have been working with. Parker really appreciated the fact that he got to work on a baseball field…I think it took all his energy not to run around the bases instead of raking. When we finished we visited a Hindu temple and learned about the Hindu faith. The kids’ eyes got wide as we drove up to the beautiful building and got to ask a Hindu priest questions about the faith tradition. Zoë, being the birthday girl, was quite excited about this experience.  “Justin…this is awesome” came out of her mouth about 20 times.

After a quick lunch with our new friends that we have been working with we headed back to the church to get ready to go shopping for Zoë’s birthday dinner. She chose pancakes and eggs. After shopping we stopped at Ted Drewes and took had some custard. And then returned to church, and made dinner. If any parents are reading this, your kids have no excuse to not cook… they are amazing!  We played some games and had a bit of a dance party and then had small groups and worship. The worship centered around the idea of loving, God, neighbor, and self, and how our work here is truly reflective of the fact that God is love…we are sent by a God of love.  Tomorrow is another day of work and then headed home. Time for some rest…see you all tomorrow!
