Job Title:                    Director of Student Ministries
Accountability:         Reports to Minister to Children, Students, & Families
Job Status:                20-25 hours/week

The Director of Student Ministries will lead Country Club Christian Church to accomplish the student ministry’s mission. The position will oversee a ministry that seeks to walk alongside every 6th grade through 12th grade student of Country Club Christian Church as they deepen their faith in God. The Director of Student Ministries must have a passion for the programming and the building of relationships that facilitate the faith development of students and their families.

The Director of Student Ministries has three primary areas of responsibility:

  • Provide Leadership
  • Equip Leaders and Volunteers
  • Develop Relationships

PROVIDE LEADERSHIP

The Director of Student Ministries will oversee all student ministry programming, working closely with the Minister to Children, Students and Families and the Student Ministry Team.

To achieve these results, the Director of Student Ministries will have completed the following tasks:

  1. Provided leadership and oversight of student ministry programming, including weekly programming and special events and programs.
  2. Developed and led a strong and passionate student ministry team with the support of the Minister to Children, Students, and Families.
  3. Worked with the Minister to Children, Students, & Families, Director of Children’s Ministries, Children/Student Choir Director and the Student Ministries Team to develop the annual calendar, including regular programming and special events.
  4. Empowered members of the Student Ministries Team as they oversee and support important areas of the ministry, including hospitality, volunteer recruiting, supplies and operations.
  5. Worked with the Student Ministries Team to develop, plan, and participate in meaningful worship experiences for students.
  6. Used clear and consistent communication tools with parents, both written and in person, leaving the avenues of communication open for concerns or suggestions of parents to be brought to the table.
  7. Worked with the Student Ministries team to oversee mission opportunities for 6-12th grade students and their families.
  8. Provided supervision and support for student ministry volunteers.
  9. Partnered with the Minister to Children, Students, & Families to develop and monitor the annual youth ministry budget.
  10. Partnered with the Minister to Children, Students, & Families and the Student Ministries Team to ensure a comfortable and up to date space for student ministry.
  11. Provided leadership and served as a resource to volunteer coordinators of annual student ministry events.
  12. Participated in quarterly church leadership staff meetings.
  13. Participated in monthly Student Ministry Team meetings.
  14. Maintained regular and announced office hours.

EQUIP LEADERS, VOLUNTEERS, AND FAMILIES

The Director of Students Ministries will recruit and equip student ministry leaders and volunteers.

To achieve these results, the Director of Student Ministries will have completed the following tasks:

  1. Worked with the Student Ministries Team to establish a strategic plan for recruiting, training, and maintaining student ministry leaders/volunteers.
  2. With the support of the Minister to Children, Students, and Families, has developed an efficient youth ministry leader/volunteer application process and training process.
  3. With the support of the Student Ministries Team, has ensured that volunteer job descriptions are evaluated and updated annually.
  4. Maintained a list of active families in student ministry and areas in which they are volunteering. Has worked with the Student Ministries Team to contact those parents who are not actively volunteering to discuss how they can find a meaningful place to serve.
  5. Ensured that all weekly student ministry volunteers and special event volunteers are recruited and trained before their volunteer role/special event begins.
  6. Worked with the Youth Ministries Team to establish a semi-annual volunteer training session.
  7. Connected with youth ministry volunteers regularly to provide support, training and encouragement.

DEVELOP RELATIONSHIPS

The Director of Student Ministries will (1) provide energetic and engaging programming that encourages each student to deepen their relationship with God (2) and provide opportunities for students to develop relationships with their peers and the student ministry leaders.

To achieve these results, the Director of Youth Ministries will complete the following tasks:

  1. Pray for Country Club Christian Church’s students, families, and the student ministry program on a daily basis.
  2. Strive to know the names of the students and families involved in student ministry.
  3. Work with the Minister to Children, Students and Families to incorporate student ministry into worship services and the life of others in the church on at least a quarterly basis, including participation of the students in worship services.
  4. Work with the Student Ministries Team to provide exceptional and personal follow up to all first-time visitors within 48 hours of a visit.
  5. Work with the Minister to Children, Students and Families to ensure that processes are in place to integrate new students, visitors, and families into the life of Country Club Christian Church’s student ministry.
  6. Work with the Student Ministries Team to develop a system to be informed about special victories, concerns or challenges, hospitalizations being faced by the youth and his or her family and communicated this information to appropriate church ministry staff for personal follow-up.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Serves as a spiritual role model by demonstrating a commitment in daily life to Christian spiritual practices and possessing an ability to articulate a personal faith journey.
  2. Demonstrates a professional and positive team spirit that supports the mission and core values of Country Club Christian Church.
  3. Possesses a minimum of two years’ experience in leading a student ministry program.
  4. Demonstrates the ability to recruit, lead, equip, delegate, organize, relates well with teens and their families.

Country Club Christian Church has spent two years working with Ministry Architects (www.ministryarchitects.com) to build a strong and sustainable ministry to students.  The Director of Student Ministries will report to the Minister of Children, Students, and Families and will lead the existing volunteer Student Ministry Team in carrying out plans for the 2015-2016 year and establishing pro
gramming for the coming years.
