Our last day in New Orleans. It’s been a wonderful week of fellowship, fun, and challenge, but thanks to Peg who constantly reminded us of our theme of persistance, we have prevailed. Last night the ladies and men of Little Farms United Church of Christ prepared us a fabulous meal. They were so …
Day 4
Our fourth and last day of work on this Beecher United Church of Christ today. We’re gratified by the progress we’ve made on this beautiful building, and we’re praying for the return of this congregation, dispersed by Katrina, to enjoy it! In yesterday’s devotion, Peg quoted a New Orleans resident, …
Day 3
Great devotions by Peggy including Gandhi, the Koran, St. Francis of Assisi, Winston Churchill and more. She has done a great job spanning the centuries and faiths with her prayers and meditations. After a good day’s work, we enjoyed a lovely dinner at The Galley, a crew favorite. During devotion, …
Day 2
A good day spent sanding, mudding, painting, and installing at Beecher Memorial United Church of Christ Memorial Church. We’re the third to the last group from our partnership with UCC, then the mission site closes. The church is beautiful–lots of good work has been done, and the urgency of our …

2009 New Orleans Mission Trip – Day 4
Today was roof until you drop day. We finished with the tear-off, got the roof all felted in and started shingling. While hammers pounded above, part of our crew helped with cleaning the yard of debris left from the flooding and helped with cleaning inside. The homeowner is very delighted …

Blogging New Orleans, V October 24, 2008 The word “change” has reverberated in our ears so often throughout this election campaign that its meaning is lost. But if you’re truly seeking change in your life, become part of a Country Club Christian Church mission trip. Each of us who struggled …
New Orleans Thursday
Blogging New Orleans, Part IV October 23, 2008 Scott began the “tales of our day” portion of worship last night with a story of humility. He explained how he and Carty had been assigned the hanging of the drywall in a small bathroom. Since both are strong, macho men, Scott …
